What did francis marion do during the revolutionary war?

Many give Marion credit as the father of guerilla warfare. He disrupted the British army in the Southern Colonies primarily and rescued captured prisoners by intercepting their movement to British prisons. He was known as the swamp fox because he travelled along swamp trails rather than on established roads. He was not known for winning a conventional battle head to head but he won several small victories with greatly outnumbered forces and cut off the British communication with the Southern colonies.
