Why is this boy saying i asked him out when i didnt?

this boy named Dylan told his friend Alex that my friend ashley asked him out for me when i didn't! ok it went like this! Me and ashley saw dylan and we called his name out and ashley was about to ask him if he liked me, but then i said "don't" and Dylan kept walking and he said "no!" me and ashley didn't even know what he was talking about when he said no. so then the bell rang and we went to homeroom. then alex says out loud if i asked dylan out! than i said i never did and he says "well dylan said that ashley was gonna ask him out for you" than i get so pissed off and now dylan is telling everyone that i asked him out! what does that suppose to mean?! does he like me or what?!
