Can someone help me with my new Harvest Moon game, Tree of Tranquility?

I can't figure out how to upgrade my house. I'm married now and I'm in Summer 2, but I can't figure out how to upgrade my house so I can start the quilt. I know I go to the carpenters but there is no choice of upgrading my house. Help!!!
