What happens to men when their wife goes through menopause?

My friends mother is starting the stages of menopause and her dad is acting very strange were not sure if this is the reason for his actions but he's been accusing her of cheating and asking a lot of questions about the past even questions about old boyfriends b4 they even met. He's been drinking more and more he's always drank beer but now he's switched from beer to rum and coke or jack and coke. They have been married for 23 or 25 years now. He's even put up a tape recorder that only turns on when it detects noise to listen n on his daughters phone calls. There is only 1 that we know about. Could he be thinking his wife is cheating on him if there is no ? What can she do to stop is false accusations? She stated with the stages of hot flashes about a month or 2 ago...but his actions have been going on for about 3 weeks. Is this normal for guys? Acting weird or out of the norm when their wife goes through a change like this?
