Does this guy really want to see me or is he pretending?

There's a guy I like who is always asking to see me on the days of the week when I tell him I work late and would be too tired to go out. When I'm at work late I'll get a text from him asking to see me and it gets me angry like doesn't he get it that I can't. He'll say "I know you're busy tonight but. why don't you come over tonight I want to see you." Does that mean he really wants to see me or he's pretending he does bec he knows i can't?
