When i have more than one internet explorer window open why do they all shut down when you X out of one?

shoulnt only that one close and the next one pop up? also happens trying to send mail as soon as i click on insert adresses in yahoo all IE windows close no matter how many are open, also if i print a page off e mail and close the printable view screen all windows of IE close.help verry annoying problem!!!
